My Opinions Don't Really Matter (Or: Caveat Lector)

Look, if there's anything the internet will teach you in short order it's that your opinion is diametrically opposed by someone more insane than you at all times. "I like daffodils!" you may be stupid enough to type into a Facebook or Reddit entry -- and suddenly a thousand screaming anti-daffodil haters will fill your inbox with vitriol and death threats. Welcome to the world of instant feedback. Your opinion -- my opinion, for that matter -- doesn't really matter at all, and so I shall revel in that.

So, let this be your only caveat to reading this here blog of opinions; they're just that. If you think I'm a news outlet, you're going to be sadly misinformed when you read the things I write about popular culture. I'm going to write an essay here, because nerds love writing essays, about why I think the Star Wars films, as they stand right now, are a great piece of art.

Smell that? Those are torches.
Hear that? That's the sound of the only pitchfork vendor in town cheering for my stupid opinion.

Undaunted, I shall paint a picture of a man who created something using basically his own brain and created a culture for a group of people notoriously hard to convince of anything's worth. Then, I shall write about the tragic demise of his social standing among that group for some basic mistakes anyone could make. You will call me crazy. The word fanboy is going to be typed....a lot. I'm sure one of the responses will most likely be an advertisement for a get-rich-quick scheme that my mom will click on.

But be forewarned -- I know my opinion doesn't really matter. I am neither a producer of films, comics, or what have you -- though I have created my own comics in the past. I am just a consumer with opinions on all kinds of things. I won't engage trolls, but I will have conversations in the comments section. I will use profanity if something pisses me off, but to no greater extent than your strange uncles or aunts who live alone and swear occasionally.

This is not your safe place, either.

I have some very un-safe opinions on things. This is your only warning that subjects will come up that may scare, offend, shock or trigger a past trauma because it reminds you of something that happened in your past. I take no responsibility for your mental state prior to reading this. Consider it an adventure. Or, be sure to know that the titles should be pretty indicative of what the content will be in future.

I am an unrepentant provoker of conversation and hater of pretension. I am an opinionated consumer.

More to come...
